We opened the chimney breast up to the builder opening to create an inglenook for the stove. We also fitted an external Stovax XQ flue system to accommodate for the fact that the chimney was not full size.

The customer chose one of our specially designed Portugese limestone surrounds in natural relvinhia to go with their multifuel stove.
Fireplace Upgrade
Materials Used:
- Fireline FX4 Multifuel Stove
- Riven Slate Hearth with log storage section
- Riven Slate slips
Value/price range: 4/5
This client was looking to upgrade his old floating electric fire due to poor heat output.
He opted for a fireline FX4 multifuel stove, so in order to accomodate this we stripped out the chimney breast and opened it up to the builder’s opening, to make an inglenook. A liner was then installed, and a heat proof interior, to ensure the heat would bounce back into the room rather than be absorbed into the nook.
We then fitted a Riven Slate hearth, including a log store feature underneath, and to finish off we fitted Riven Slate slips.
The result was a rustic finish stove, with high quality heat output.
Fireplace Replacement and Room Transformation
Materials Used:
- Gazco Studio 1 Fire
- Stepped Slate Oyster Tiles
- Limestone shelving and floating mantelpiece with steel structure
Value/price range: 5/5
This customer wanted to get rid of her outdated gas stove and transform her room with a feature fireplace. She showed us a few pictures and together we worked on a bespoke design which was made to measure, to ensure it would fit perfectly within her living room.
We created a floating limestone feature made with a steel structure to support the floating limestone ledge. For the fireplace itself, we fitted a glass-fronted studio gas fire surrounded by stepped slate oyster tiles.
The result was a sleek design marrying form and function. The addition of the limestone shelving underneath helped to draw the room together, with the fireplace as the starring attraction. In addition, the smooth lines of the limestone paired with the slightly rougher edges of oyster tiles made for an eye-catching finish.

We aimed to create a clean entertainment hub around the fireplace, which included a compact recess for a television in the faux chimney breast. At the foot of the fire, we installed an AV unit constructed out of plaster and GRG fireproof boards, finished in starlight white.
