Electric Fireplace Guide

Electric Fireplace Guide

Electric fireplaces are a modern, convenient and popular heating solution suited to just about any household. Whether you’re searching for a new electric stove for your flat, or are curious about the benefits one can bring to your family home, this buyers guide will point you in the right direction.

Benefits of a Electric Fireplace

Why have an Electric fireplace?

  • No chimney or flue system required
  • Zero emissions - vastly more efficient than solid fuel fires
  • Easy to install and use - only a working mains power outlet is needed
  • Doesn’t require regular servicing
  • Safe option - no chance of harmful toxins or gases being emitted
  • Typically a more affordable option
  • Wide range of styles and colours to choose from

Types of electric fireplaces

Hole in the wall

If you’re looking to save space, you can have an electric fireplace installed directly into an existing wall. This sleek solution brings a modern flame effect aesthetic into your home and can be designed to fit seamlessly with your current decor. These fireplaces are simple to install and create a striking centrepiece for any room, whether it’s the living room, bedroom, home office or even the kitchen.

Electric Stoves

One of the most convenient choices, a freestanding electric stove can help bring heat to your home where it’s needed most. Electric stoves come in a range of contemporary and traditional designs, and they are both compact and portable, so you can move them around the home at will without any fuss. As long as you have a working power outlet to hand, it’s just a matter of plugging it in and turning the up the temperature.

Fireplace size and measurements

Once you’re set on your electric fireplace, it’s time to decide the proportions and where it will be installed. When deciding on size and measurements for hole in the wall electric fires, think about the following:

  • Fireplace height and width
  • Placement of the fireplace - how central and how far up your wall you’d like it to be
  • Whether you’d like your fireplace to be wall hung, or fitted into your wall/chimney breast
  • The size of the room
  • Height of the ceiling

Installing an Electric Fireplace

Although you don’t need a chimney or a flue, a hole in the wall fireplace still requires professional installation to ensure a quality finished product that perfectly suits your home. The fully qualified fitters at Rotherham Fireplace Centre will carry out safe and efficient installation of your electric fireplace. We will survey your wall or chimney breast to ensure your fireplace can be housed securely, before arranging a date -typically 4 weeks after purchase - to fit your brand new electric fireplace.

After sales process

Once you have found the right fireplace for your home and purchased it, there will be, on average, a 4 week wait between the order and the date of fitting. The fitting will take 1-2 days depending on how complex each individual job may be.

Went to Rotherham fireplace centre this morning to order a chimney liner and ask for some general advice on woodburners. Wes looked after us and was great. Excellent service and attitude to customers. Even helped load the van, can’t ask for more. Top man.
